After suffering a heartbreaking
loss to conference
rival East Tennessee
State University back on Jan. 16,
the Eagles will look for vengeance
Thursday when they host the Buccaneers
in Alico Arena.
Athletic Director Ken Kavanagh
knows the importance of
this game.
"The ETSU game is for first
place. They already beat us and
if we could beat them we would
hold out our destiny in the final
six games to win another A-Sun
Title," Kavanagh said.
Three of those final six game
will be hosted by the Eagles.
ETSU ended the Eagles
22-game conference winning
streak when they defeated FGCU
88-83 in Johnson City, Tenn., more
than two weeks ago.
Reigning A-Sun Player of
the Year Siarre Evans scored 20
points and had a game-high 14 rebounds,
while Tara Davis scored
21.
While the Eagles are currently
one-half game games ahead
of ETSU, they will need a win
against them to control their destiny
as the final stretch of the season
closes in on them.
The game tips off at 5:15 p.m.
in Alico Arena and is part of a
double-header with the men's
team which will face the Buccaneer's
men's team at 7:30 p.m.
The evening is Faculty and
Staff Appreciation Night, and all
faculty and staff get in both games
for free.
On Saturday both teams host
Campbell in another conference
double-header. The men tipoff at
5:15 p.m. while the women square
off at 7:30.
Highlighting the evening will
be Coaches vs. Cancer and Camper
Appreciation Night. Kids in a
camp shirt get in free.
